Who do you compare yourself to? We all do this…no matter what age you may be…we are
drawn to want to be like the “cool kids.” Theirs is an exclusive club that only a very select few
can join. It’s as if you are hand picked for this honor. What makes one girl celebrated while
another is shunned? Is there an unspoken “it” factor for the cool kid? Do you ever wonder why
you don’t have this “it”thing?
Do you question, why are you not sparkly, shiny and perfect like these other girls?
It is easy for you to stand by and watch others and feel less than:
-not as pretty
-not as skinny
-not as funny
-not as many friends
-not so many stylish clothes.
Do you overlook your God-given Awesomeness?
It is time for you to choose to look at yourself through a different set of eyes.
Ephesians 1: 3 says that God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The Bible
says in Psalm 139 that, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works
are wonderful, I know that full well.”
You are extraordinary-the Bible says so. Look inside you and see how you are unique and
special: are you an artist? Do you have an intuition when someone is hurting and needs a kind
word? Do you watch out for those left out or left behind? Are you great at doing hair, great at
running, smart in politics? Have you looked around you lately? Who is your circle of friends?
Are they the smart kids or the artsy kids? The point is that you have a circle of friends! Choose
to see what is beautiful about you and how God made you. Choose to see the blessings of the
friends that He has put into your life. Be a blessing to others and this will honor God.
When you start feeling good about who you are in Christ, you will finally see yourself as the
“sparkly, shiny, and perfect” girl that you want to be.
